996.2 C4 MY2002 Misfire

Hi, I am looking for some guidance, I have a misfire, or an early rev limiter on my 996.

The engine revs really well to about 4500rpm, and then its just like you have hit the rev limiter.

I've already replaced the MAF sensor, spark plugs, coils, and air cleaner. No change.

It starts really well, idles and revs nicely right until you get to the 4500rpm mark.

Anyone got any tips or direction ?

Thanks,
Schooners.

I’ve never had this issue but I’ve heard of it several times. Seems like it was crank or cam position sensors each time. So, without codes, you could try checking the wires and cleaning the sensors.

Hi All,
I went to install a new Crank Angle sensor tonight, but I couldn't get the plug apart, or plug out of the bracket, access is really bad, I can't even get my hands up into the area around the bracket and plug, and suggestions ?
Do you need to carry out the replacement on a lift ?
Thanks.

I have quick jacks so I get to all that stuff lying on a creeper. It can still be a one handed job sometimes

Hi All, well I have an update, the crank angle sensor fixed my engine misfire @ 4500rpm, the car had a couple of crank angle sensor stored faults, so when I had the IMS replaced, the sensor was done as well. All good again.
