996 C4S Tires/Rims?

Hey All - In the process of buying a 2002 C4S. I plan to drive all year round so want to replace the Summer tires with All Seasons AND get a 2nd set of Rims/Tires for AutoX (and maybe Driver's Ed).

From what I understand, Porsche recommends the following:
Standard:
FRONT 225/40ZR18
REAR 295/30ZR18

Winter:
FRONT 225/40R18
REAR 265/35R18

A couple of "newbie" questions:
1) Can I use the stock rims for the Winter tires, i.e. I don't need to change anything for the 265/35 "winter" rears?

2) I don't see any All Seasons in 295/30 - but a lot of options in 265/35. So I should be getting All Seasons in the 265, i.e. the Winter Recommendation?

3) In the Spring I intend to get some lighter weight rims and AutoX/Track focused tires in the 225 & 295 combo. Make sense? Hopefully I will come across some used rims over the next few months....

Thanks in advance for the advice.

Recommendation for the 996 C2 or GT3 with a 10” rim (width) is 285 summer and 265 winter. I was going to upload a pic from the manual but this forum has photo size restrictions from the 90’s lol…

I’ve got the manual… just trying to understand more about the rims and tire choice.

So, if you have the manual and you see it's the same rim size, then what do expect anyone here to say?
1.) According to the manual, yes.
2.) According to the manual, yes.
3.) Sure. Good luck and have fun.

1) The manual says nothing about rim sizes, only tires. I’ll take your answer as confirmation that the stock rims are fine for the recommended tires.
2) Since the only options I see for all seasons are the rear in 265, I’ll assume that winter speaks to anytime I plan to use non-summer tires which is most of the year as I plan to get a more track focused option for my “summer” option. So I am basically running a slightly narrower tire for most of my driving.
3) I do to plan to have fun and expect that will be the case on pretty much any tire I put on the car.

Yeah man, I wasn’t referring to the owners manual. I’m talking about the service manual, which it looks like you don’t have after all. The service manual shows the rim specifications for accompanying tire size.
A 265mm tire is 10.4” across the tread. A 295mm tire is 11.6”. If you are on the C4S OEM 11” rim, then the 265 winter tire will be 5/8” under the 11” rim size; which is fine. But if you don’t like that, you can look for something wider, 275/40, 285/35, etc.

Keep in mind that a wider tire is actually less traction in wet conditions…. More surface area increases hydroplaning.

Got it - really helpful! Will look around a bit but likely will go with 265 on stock rim. Thanks for the patience and explanation!
