Removing bumperette covers on '03 996.2
Hello folks, I'm looking to take off my bumperette covers on my '03 996.2. Just the covers if possible. Someone previously has replaced them and tried to match the speed yellow paint, but it doesn't match the car. I want to take them off and paint them. Is there a secret to getting them off without destroying them? I think there are two clips on each side. Is there a special tool? Thanks in advance....Steve

I haven’t actually removed my bumperettes, but I have had the bumper cover off several times. I’d remove the bumper cover to remove them.

Do you mean these?
![]() ![]() ![]() On my Gen 1 996 they are removed by a large Allen wrench that goes through the hole on the bottom. Some cars have covers over that hole. EDIT: Sorry, I did some more digging, there is a significant design change from Gen 1 to 2. If you need input on painting the bumperettes I’ve got a thread here in Pelican for reference.
