2003 Porsche 996 Carrera Cabriolet Vin WP0CA29983S652543 Keyless Entry

This problem is with my 2003 Porsche 996 Carrera2 Cabriolet.

Occasionally when the key is inserted into the ignition switch, the key will NOT turn.

I had the electronic part of the ignition switch replaced. I also put some powered Graphite into the tumbler portion of the ignition switch. Following that I have kept a battery tender on the car, as it's NOT a daily driver.

There was no further problem until one night I forgot to plug in the battery tender. The following 32 degree morning, it started OK and I drove it to a Cars & Coffee. When I tried to start it for the trip home, the key would NOT TURN.

After a while when the sun got higher in the sky, a.k.a. it got warmer. The key turned, car started right up.

Anybody out there ever have this problem?
If so please reply to Dave at [email protected]

You need to replace the mechanical section of the switch.
