996 Targa opinions?
What are your opinions on the 996 Targa?
I am looking for a nice weekend driver, some autocross and a couple track night events per year 996. I have narrowed it down to two 2002's. One is a Targa, the other a regular Carrera. Very close in price and condition. One is 2000+ miles away the other 350 miles. |

The targa is unique . Two potential issues , one is the top can develop creaky noises . The second is if/when the top mechanism takes a crap they can be $$$ to repair .
Get a thorough PPI to include dropping the sump plate and inspecting each cylinder for bore scoring . Maintenance records a plus . Good luck |

Thank you. I am concerned about the breaking potential of the top. My daughter's X3 top got squirrely and was quoted $5k to repair...
