2003 996 Cab staring and stalling
So I have a strange one. 2003 996 Cab Tiptronic that when you turn the key to start, sometimes will only crank 2 or 3 revolutions then stop. Turn the key againmaybe the same thing, or maybe nothing. Then you may try it several times, or let it sit for a bit and come back and it may start right up and run fine. When driving it may run for miles before stalling like you turned off the key, or it may only run short distance. Battery is strong, alternator is charging almost 14 volts, and no check engine light or any codes stored. Any ideas?

It may be your ignition switch. Either loose or corroded terminals. Lots of posts here and on Rennlist on how to remove the switch. It’s a bit tricky.

Thanks, I unplugged it and the terminals are perfect. Replacing it may be a good place to start though.
