HVAC Blend Door R&R - Starting Position for doors?

I've read through an excellent thread on the Rennlist forum which shows what folks have done to repair their doors by accessing them via the heater core, behind the radio, or both. What I didn't see in the thread was whether there was a preferred position to place both doors before starting the repair? (LO/HIGH/somewhere in between), (Defrost/Center Vent/Footwell). I'm going to attempt to access both doors through the heater core...
