LED Brake Light throws ABS/PSM code. Fix?
Installed aftermarket LED tail lights in my 2001 996 and the resistance is throwing ABS/PSM codes. I've heard of flasher issues when installing LED bulbs (don't have that problem) but not brake light related codes. Does anyone sell a plug and play resistor harness to cure this problem?

The fault you are seeing is likely caused by the pedal switch getting connectivity before brake pressure, or not enough resistance. Its normally a problem with the pedal switch, have not seen it with an LED, but then we don't seem many 996 cars with aftermarket taillights.

Hey Jeff, I believe the codes are being thrown due to the LED brake light bulb having a weak resistance compared to OE bulbs. The computer thinks the brakes are on or the bulb is burned out. There are 3 wires on the brake light harness, red brown and black. Which colors would I jump with a resister? Looked at wiring schematics and can't make it out.

Problem solved.
Did a little research and found this is a very common problem with a very easy solution. Purchased a set of 6ohm 50W resistors in a plug-in kit. Spliced into the black and brown wires. Done. Idiot lights immediately went out. Also note that the cruise control is affected by this voltage issue as well; it thinks your brakes are on so it will not engage. All works as it should now. Hope this helps someone.
