Question Q about R134a conversion kit install

Hi,

I am completing the install of the R134a conversion kit BUT,
the new compressor's bracket for the extension rod is located further than the OEM, and unfortunately, I couldn't get the belt tightened before the rod runs out of length....

At first I thought I got an extra long belt by mistake but, no, it's about the same as the old one.

Did anybody have this problem before? And how did you resolve it?

Is there a shilgtly shorter belt? Seems that would be the simplest.

i'm curious what made you decide to do this conversion? i've been researching this for a while and considered it.

Well, when I bought the 951 I had my long time mechanic fix the insufficient cooling ( I had no knowledge of AC back then)

Apparently he just flush the system and put in R134a. About half year later, the AC system died. Then I researched a bit about AC systems, learned the probably cause of failures and decided to do the installation myself, in order to save some labor cost.

I'm kinda frustrated as the instructions didn't even mention about this mounting problem.

have you checked rennlist?

the r134a conversion is debated. the most important thing that turned me off is that it will never blow as cold as the stock r12 system.

especially since there is still plenty of R12 out there

you can go to a shorter belt to make it work. any parts store will be able to help
