86 951 I bought--guards red
Well Carfax indicated a wreck.
The PO was asking too much. The tires had splits between the treads. The headlights scrape the hood and dance --up-down-up etc. The leather driver's seat is split. It was the inverse of Noah's ark--keeps the earth dry when it rains. 19 year old musty smell. The hatch is seperated from the frame. The nose is cracked. No A/C function. The clock did not work. Driver's mirror was floppy. Passenger windshield wiper won't. Terrible alignment. Hatch has to be wiggled to open. 155,000 miles. Won't hold windshield washer fluid. Clutch slave went out 3 weeks after I bought it. Passenger side door mirror vertical motor gear busted. The roof is too high over the driver's door from the wreck (the roof bowed up from the wreck I guess). but.... the turbo works great... I bought it (who needs stock options anyway?) I fixed most of the stuff. No AC yet and did not fix the roof. Now it stays dry inside (unplugged the clogged drains) when it rains. The clock works. added XM radio fixed the gear on the electric mirror. fixed the floppy mirror. Aligned the wheels. Fixed the nut on the windshield wiper. Bought new tires. Replaced the clutch slave--easy. Bought a seat cover--for now. Figured out why fuses would blow. Replaced blown fuses. Taped the lugs on the glove box lamp. Fixed the spring contact on the glove box so the light would come on. Fixed the headlight relay socket--stopped the dance. Bought metric tools. Bought a SUV floor jack and stands. Listen to my teens want to drive the car ..... Replaced the hatch lock seal. Bought anti squeal inserts. Still troubleshooting... The stereo won't turn on without a pull up resistor--DME must be damaged. Wierd clacking random noise (water pump?) Wondering if I can fix the A/C by myself. Summary It was worth it. Mid life therapy. I want another one for the wife. Richard |

Oh yes. The oil sender must be bad. Pegs the oil guage at power on.
The speedometer sticks off sometimes. Richard |

Nope, but it is fun to drive now.
Just fixed the radio, replaced the windshield antenna with the UA-200 amplified antenna (works good)--set it on the dash passenger side near the windshield wiper and disconnected the amplifier that is under the dash for the windshield antenna. The particles of glass under the carpet are the clue the the orginial windshield with the built in antenna met it's end at the hands of the PO. I don't think any of the glass is orginial due to the tiny brand logo in the corner of each window, hatch, windshield. Still have not fixed the hatch frame. The fuse box has been jury rigged and some of the blade sockets are damaged. I got some circuits to work by repairing the sockets. |
