cam belt noise
my 83 944 started making a scraping noise coming from behind the timing cover. i took it off and the side of the belt is rubbing on the inside (engine side) of the cover right next to the idler pulley. it doesn't touch the idler pully it this normal? the belt seems to have good tension all the pulley nuts are tight. what would cause the belt to walk back like that? and what can i do to fix it?
thanks Todd

the bearings in the rollers may be worn out.

i unfortunately don't have much history on the maint. of the car. i got it a couple of months ago. the belt seems to be in ok condition. i was also thinking the bearings in one of the pulleys was bad. i'll look into that...
THANKS Todd
