944 turbo power steering

Hi, i've got an 87 944 turbo, yesterday i started hearing this really loud noise when i turn the steering wheel almost like a motor struggling. obviously to me this sounds like the power steering motor is packing up. is there anything else it can be?

How is your PS fluid level? Did the steering wheel turn smoothly while making the noise?

I had a seal go in my rack/pinion a couple of years ago. Steering made a peculiar noise and steering wheel was jerky when turned while car was stopped.

k, i've just had it checked out by a garage, apparently it was the main hose leading to the steering rack. I've had this replaced but at some cost. the pipe alone cost me 180 GBP. now that seems like a pretty expensive pipe. is this the average price for the hose?

are you talking about the metal pipe? i've never seen those go bad, usually it's just the rubber hoses that go bad. you can replace them with any standard rubber hose for under $10.
