Wheel issue...Fuchs or C2 (Cup 1)
Aaaaaaaaaah....I'm driving myself crazy.
Soon, I'm going to have my car repainted. To finish it off, I would like to mount new wheels and I'm seriously doubting between 16" Fuchs or 17" C2 wheels, also referred to as Cup 1. The Fuchs are totally classic and they compliment the guards red, but the 17" cups look very nice too, and a little bit more modern. What would you guys do??? BTW: I have 86 951 Phone dials on the car right now, but I want a different look.

Yep...those last 2...that's what it's about...I have to say I loooooove the fuchs..
But I also loooooooooooooove the Cup 1's...

put 2 on one side, 2 on the other... that way, no matter the angle, you'll get to see your different wheels..
that said... those fuchs are orgasmic...

POLISHED FUCHS
Those polished Fuchs are indeed spectacular. Are they 16s?
I am in the midst of an upgrade for my '84 to change from 15" to 16" Fuchs so as to buy some decent tires which will be Bridgestone RE050A PP. I now have a set of restored 16" Fuchs, 7s & 8s, all 23.3mm offset which I can use but I've decided that the '89 911 8X16 with the 10.6 mm offset looks better. I have acquired one of these suitable for resto but finding another (at a non-heart attack price) has been almost impossible. And then they have to painted platinum metallic like the OE wheels. I'm not giving up the search. Oct 13 marked the 23rd anniversary of factory pickup for this car.

Yep..They are 16s..Im not sure on the offset but they came off a widebody 930..

I think it would be sweet to have 16 X 8 Fuchs all the way around. I have the 16 X 7 Fuchs and love them. They are a nice forged aluminum wheel. Are the Cup1 forged or cast? I wounder what the weight difference is?
I say go with the fuchs. Speedy

Yes, the Fuchs will fit on any early offset vehicle (911/944). If I do go for the Fuchs, I'm going for a new Replica set. The 'real deal' is a little above my budget and I'll save that for my 1st 911. They are 16x7 and 16x8, nice and wide.
Unfortunately, they're cast, just like the cup wheels. I know the cup wheels are like 28 lbs per wheel, which is pretty heavy. I'm not sure what replica Fuchs weigh. I just really like the look of a Guards red 944 with black Fuchs...so classy.

just keep in mind that the replica's dont really look the same.. the 'fan blades' are much skinnier... very easy to tell they're not real...
then again... who cares, right? lol

I know what you're saying. But if I wanted to get the real 7 & 8J's, it'd cost me a small fortune. I'd rather put that towards the paintjob.
It's all about the look of the black center with the polished lip that's so attractive. I'm even thinking of a 931 nose panel now. So if anyone has one for sale...let me know.

I bought my 16" set for $600. I think if you scanned the classifieds you could find a 7 and 8 inch set for maybe $1000 - $1300 which is about what the new replicas are.

Can't agree more - go with the Fuchs. Newer non-original wheels on these cars look too "boy racer".
