Holy Exaust Leak Batman!Wo

Wow, just wow. Its amazing the difference a good exaust makes. I'd noticed my car was realy loud after it got hit while parked at the DMV, but tonigh I took it for its first drive I normaly do. Sluggish - sluggish, and the sound... Like a fat man who had too much beans. Ugh...

I checked it out by flashlight when I got home, it broke the pipe lose from the Cat is obvious, not sure if there is more. I never realised how important an intact exaust is to performance.

I had the same thing happen a few years ago on the NA.

It broke right at the hanger in front of the cat.

Lucky it did not fold under. I ended up placing the entire exhaust in the car............. I could barely get the car up to highway speed.

LOUDDD........ and no torque.

You may want to check the cat to verify it's not plugged. May be why it broke loose there. Then again, maybe not.

Can anyone explain why the loss of power from an exhaust leak on a NA? I know it would screw up the O2 sensor but I would think it would richen the mixture not lean it. Air flow would be better because it would take away the back pressure. What else would cause the loss of power to the engine?
