Angry Temp gauge earth?

Right I've had enough of this Temp gauge flicking lark!

I'm assuming now that it must be the earth in the gauge as when I tap the dash it returns to normal at times. I've cleaned all the other earths I can find.

So, how easy is it to get to the guage rear to clean it all up and redo the earth?

Please bear in mind that its an S2 Cabriolet!!!

Thanks
Pat.

As always clean all of the grounds between the engine and chassis and battery. Also clean the red wires at the battery's positive terminal. Clean the grounding connections for the gauge cluster.

When was the last time you changed your timing and balance belts and/or cam chain and tensioner?

It's not difficult to pull the cluster...just a few screws. Takes about 10 minutes. There is also an article here in the tech section which talks about what to clean when you get the cluster out.

I had the exact same problem. and it was a ground. For me it was the ground that goes from the rear of the engne. Coming off the bellhousing to the firewall. On the bell housing ground you will see 3-4 brown wires. One of those was a lil loose and caused the same problem you have now. Taping the dash and everything
