Motorola cup

Has Porsche ever sold any 944s intended for the Motorola Cup series?

If so, does anyone know if they had special lightweight 16" phone dials on them?

Any info is appreciated.

They may be magneisum PD's. There is a set on eBay right now i think. I know they are from the Turbo Cup cars.

I just bought a set not long ago, and i've been unable to find anything on these special 16" phonedials beyond what the fellow that sold them to me told me(a nice guy, so i trust his account), which is, that they are about 3-4lbs lighter each than a regular 16" phonedial, and are actually even slightly lighter than the earlier 15" phone dials.

I'lll look on Ebay at the other set, and see what i can figure out. Thanx much for the assistance.

Also, are all 16x8" phone dials "Turbo cup"/"Motorola Cup" rims?

PS: Anyone else has any input/specifics/exact weights, feel free.

Poke around on the Rennlist forum, in particular the 944 Turbo specific forum. Ive seen atleast 2 detailed threads about them, one recently and one from a few months ago.

From what i gather they should be 16x8 and 16x9. Also the wheel itself is only about 15lbs.

Phone dials for the 944 Turbo were offered in 16x7 and 16x8 sizes, they were aluminum however.

Well these are phonedials, and were described as "944 motorola cup" rims to me.

The price i paid was low enough that even if they're 'regular' PDs i didn't get hurt, i'm just curious to find out what the deal is exactly.

As for rennlist, i do not frequent that particular website anymore since i basically told Randy to *($&#%*)&%$* in spectacular fashion.

LOL...

As said before...Check the rim width...If they're 8's and 9's you should be a happy camper.

These are Phone dials. The 8 and 9 inch size references flat dishes.

Mine are 16x7front and 16x8rear

You have regular run of the mill phone dials then.

Okee dokee, thanx.

Just to be sure when i get to mounting them i'll weigh them and compare the figures to the ones coming off. If there is a variance, i'll repost in case anyone is interested.

Thanx for the help.
