Wire harness for XM or Sirius radio

Does anyone know where I can buy a connecting harness to install a satellite radio in my 99 Boxster?
I don't want to cut the factory harness.
If not available, can I buy OE Porsche connectors to make my own harness?
Has anyone with a 996/997 BTDT?
Thanks in advance.
Len

SW Stereo offers the part you are looking for (http://www.swstereo.com/), installed it in my 996 and it works like a champ. You will need a mini stereo to RCA cable and dont forget to ask for the radio tools.

Satellite Radio

Len,
Were you able to get your satellite radio connected in your Boxster? Suggestions or tips for those about to do the same thing?
Thank you.
Scott

I called them, 800-270-2378.
Nice people.
The cable they sell for $25 connects a XM or Sirius tuner via their RCA conn to the aux input of a CDR 220.
Its a direct plug n play.
You can only use it if you do NOT have a CD changer however, as it uses the aux input.
Perhaps a switch can be fitted to have both.
Now I am looking for a CDR 220 at a reasonable price.
I will let you all know how I make out.
Cheers.
Len

One more bit of info I hope is correct.
I am told Crutchfield has a wire harness adaptor to install a DIN mount XM or Sirius radio in a Boxster or 996.
A direct plug-in (?????).
This replaces the Porsche CDR 220 or whatever you have or have not.
I have not, as this was a salvage car & the radio was missing.
It looks like I will go this route.
I will let you all know how it works.

The Crutchfield harness part is Nr 120701784, and antenna adapter is Crutchfield Nr 1040VW12.

This allows an aftermarket XM or Sirius radio to be installed as a direct plug-in to the 996.

Depending on the model year, you might also need a OEM-2 Amp interface.

So, lets see how this works.

If anyone tries this before me, please post your results.

Cheers,

Len

Porsche Crest

I talked to SW Stereo tonight. They seem to know what you need to hook up an XM or an MP3. I will see how it works and report back. I do not have an external CD player but he says he will give me instructions to program a aux setting for the radio. We will see.

Put the connector in today. Works with both XM and MP3. When I had a problem I called them up and worked it through. Great help. Hard to believe someone here in the USA will still do that for you
