HELP - 1999 996 is smoking a TON

Hey all -

I just took my 996 out of winter storage. It was a little smokey on cold starts before I put it away for the winter in November, but now that I've tried taking it out of storage, it's smoking like crazy. If the throttle is pushed, it's barrels of smoke.

I left a message for the guy at my dealership, but I figured I'd try this as well.

Before I started the car the dash said the oil level was perfect. Either way, I'll check it again to make sure.

QUESTION:
What kind of danger am I in?

***
Update: I spoke w/ the dealership. The dude seems to think that oil could have gotten into the cylinders and is now being burned as the motor runs. He said if I only took a short drive (.5 miles), it likely didn't have enough time to clear the oil out.

At the same time, he said it'd probably be best to tow it to the dealership in case it's not this simple.

Anyone else ever experience this w/ oil leaking into the cylinders and then blowing a ton of thick white smoke when driving the car for the first few miles?

Thanks, TJ

It could be the oil seperator has failed. Usually over 60k miles they need replacing.

oil air separator most likely

check for vacuum at the oil filler neck.
