How do I change 997 oil?
This is a weird question to ask when you as mechanically inclined as I am but I dont want to mess up a 100K car. Its the 3.6. What grade of oil and how much? I am going to go hunt out some old Mobil 1 for it when I get the chance too. 0W40 right?

OW-40 Make sure your drain pan is big enough to hold about 10 quarts of oil.
Hint: The oil filter wrench is the same size as one for a Porsche 944\968\Boxster.

Major issues with over-filling. You can run into a whole slew of expensive problems that way. Don't do it!
The simplest way to do this right is to use an oil pan with hash marks on the side indicating quarts. If the pan fills to the 8 quart hash mark, put 8 quarts of fresh oil in. Simple as can be. Make sure you are on a flat surface. You can do this without jacking up the car, by the way. Don't forget to change your oil filter, too, and capture the amount of oil that comes out of there. Use a new oil filter and rubber o-ring. For your oil plug, use a new crush washer each time. In my 997S I usually drain about 8 quarts, and thus, add 8 quarts. CATTMAN
