99 runs rough

i have a 99 996 that misfires at idle and lacks power. i don't think its the coil packs becausee when i swap the coil packs and plugs the same cylinders seem to misfire. has anyone come across a problem like this. does anyone know anything that is known to cause this or know of anything i can check. thanks.

You probably have a vacuum leak somewhere. Is it setting any check engine lights?

Does it run better after the car warms up?

it runs more rough when the motor gets hot. and the check engine light does go on. it throws a random cylinder misfire code, a cylinder one misfire code, and sometimes cylinder two or four misfire.

Sounds like a faulty Mass Flow Sensor.

my friend also has a 996 so i swapped the mass air flow sensors and the same problem is still there. it wasn't because i swapped the sensors but the problem got worse. at any random time more often at high rpm and high load, the car bogs out like crazy and the check engine light flashes. any other suggestions?

Make sure you swapped out a the corret MAF sensor, if you used the wrong year you'll just repeat the "retarded" reply from your car.

AFJuvat,
Hey, I live in Viera also. I just bought an 02 Carrera yesterday and will be needing some help along the way. Good to know someone is close-by!

I think I have seen it! Mine is black, and I may be living in it if my wife kicks me out. She didn't seem to be as excitted as I was. Are there any local get-togethers?
