Need info about 996 engines.....

I was at metal scrap yard weighing my car 2450 lbs.. Guy told me to go see mechanic as they have a Porsche engine in a shed. Turns out to be a 996 3.4L. "I think it was running when removed from wreck". "I think they'll sell it for a couple of hundred"
Can this fit in my 1984 911?
What's it worth for resale or parts?
Also looks like front wheel drive case? Or rear differental?

Engine # is 9961041391R3.4L
# on Case 70D0263921G and also decal that has 4WD 1.211 ratio.
Think case is Porsche part?

Any info on this would be helpful. Thanks

Use it or sell it.The whole lump or parts.
A working P engine for a couple of hundreds...naturally no one knows whats the real story.

Do you think it came from a C4?

I was told that serial is a low # so I'm guessing it's from a C2.

I need a 3.4

If you don't want this one I really need it for my 996 with 3.4L. Could save my bank account.

PM or email with info. Thanks!

I think I heard of someone doing this, but really it should be considered impossible. You would spend enough money to buy a real 996 *and* another 3.2 Carrera I would think.
