Location of engine # on 3.4?

Does anyone know where I look for the engine serial# on my '99 996? I am on a mission to determine whether the engine has been replaced, (it was not under warranty), so I also need to somehow find out what the # would be for an extremely early production '99. (Build date 2/98). If my # is not consistent with that, I'll know it's been changed.

TIA.

Call Laura at Hergesheimer. She'll tell you. Tell her I told you to call her (Scott Romanos)

Congrats on the new to you 996. He11 of a car. I've taken mine to the track (Big Willow) four times and have had a blast!

Ok, tks , but i want to know how to know with the serial number if the engine has been changed or not, i think if the date of the engine is newer than `99 year then the engine has been changed
Tks and regards

Tks a lot,
AT in front of the serial number. This means Austauschmotor or exchange motor. You have a factory rebuilt normally aspirated motor for a 1999 (66X)
66Y is 2000
661 through 665 is 2001 through 2005 respectively
Last 5 digits are the serial number
