'99 996 Carrera Coupe
What do you guys think about a '99 Carrera coupe, 54K miles, excellent inside and out, new tires, perfect carfax--for $28K? Don't know about service records and haven't done PPI. Any RMS concerns with 54K miles?

Most things should have been found and hopefully sorted out by that milage. Good luck with a clean PPI.

Ditto. Insist on a PPI as a condition of purchase. Get a good PPI from a shop that REALLY knows 996's.
Also, check Rennlist's very active 996 forum. |

Sure--you need a PPI on any of these cars, unless they are Porsche certified. You can get an 01 996 for the low $30Ks these days with lower mileage, so the '99 at $28K isn't much of a deal.
I do think the 996s are better buys than the air-cooled 993s, which owners are placing a premium on. The 993 styling might be more classic, but the 996 is probably better overall--unless Porsche is marching backwards.
