proud new owner of 2002 c4s

after owning and daily driving an 86 930 with all the upgrades including zork tube, (and then totalling it ) i bought a 2002 c4s. amazing difference. ive heard all the rhetoric about air cooled being the real p-car, the poor styling of the 996, etc. ad nauseum.... thats all bs! the c4s out handles the 930 , and is just as fast thru tight cornering, amazing grip, anyway im just sorry i waited too long. i wouldnt mind doing a few performance upgrades such as cold air intake, maybe an exhaust upgrade( does someone make mufflers that open when you stomp on it like the v8 astin martin but are relatively quiet when cruising. my wife woulndnt get in the turbo with the zork. is chipping the car worth it. i just dont want any dash lights coming on. can you guys offer advise ,what good and whats bogus, thanks in advance kevin also the shifter seems like it could improving..what about the b&m or the ones on evilbay stores. anxious to hear from the non-koolaid sippers air cooled guys

Congratulations, my first Porsche was a 2000 c2 cab. Its a great car, something my wife can drive or a car we can enjoy together for years to come. My next and second Porsche is going to be a 930. I have been dreaming about a 930 since the late 70s, and hope to find one in the next year. As far as performance upgrades you may have to check some of the other Porsche sites, not alot of 996 owners here. Enjoy the car and have fun with it.

Yes...pixxxx....I have the same car. If you don't have the shortshift kit...I HIGHLY suggest it. I did it myself....cost 200 bucks. It's like night and day.

Congrats!!!! I feel the same as you. C4S is in my opinion one of the nicest 911's ever built....especially that wide arse.

I too like the awsome grip of the 996. Not to mention the top end. Would like to feel what 996 C4 does.

Pics...

Oh and as far as the upgrades, there is the manditory sport exhaust upgrade, and that cold air intake mod you mention is a close guess. It is a mod that changes the T to a V going in from the cleaner.
