newbie 996 owner mystery switch

I just bought a 1999 996 (red, aero).
Unfortunately, I didn't get a manual with it.
On the drivers side, at approximately left shin level is a two position rocker switch on the vertical sidewall of the car.
Can anyone tell me what it does???

Thanks!!
Howard

I think you are talking about the switch that raises or lowers the rear spoiler. If you push up on the rocker, the spoiler goes up and stays up. You can raise the spoiler with the key in the acessory position to clean the underside and inspect for maintainance. Push the switch down and it goes down until you go above the speed Porsche determined that you need the aero help.

Push it and find out.

Have to agree with Flieger, it's the switch that will raise the rear spoiler for cleaning/showing off. You have to press it and hold it until the spoiler is done moving - top part of the switch to raise, bottom part to lower.

If the car has the aero kit, then the retractable spoiler is probably gone, so the switch would be inoperative.

996 newbie question

Thanks all.
It does have the aero kit and the switch did nothing when I pressed it, so it's probably disconnected.

Thanks so much!!
