will my 996 wheels fit a 997?

I am probably going to replace my '99 996 with an '06 or '07 997 as daily driver.
Will my winter wheels and tires from the 996 fit? Yes, I know the speedo will be off due to slight diameter difference between 18" and 19" wheels/tires.

your 996 wheels will work on your 997 but, the 997 wheels will not work on the 996

That is interesting. Why would they not be back-compatable? Good news for me though!

the 997 wheels are set to the inside (more offset) and are slightly wider than a 996 wheel

My brother has a 2005 997 Carrera S with 19" Turbo wheels and ceramic rotors and large yellow calipers. He wants to do auto cross and save his P-Zeros for the street. His racing buddy has Hoosier 18's wheels and tires. Will these fit his 997?

Thanks,
Mark

997 wheels do fit on a 996.

I put 19" lobster claws on my 996 from a 997 S. You may want to run 7" spacers on the front to give it a more "proper" look. The rears were direct bolt on.

Technically the fronts too, but they look a little "sunk" into the fender.

Cheers
Aaron

Thanks for the info. I'm glad to hear that this will work. How many inch spacers would you recommend for the fronts? 7 inches?? That would be one heck of a wide spacer!! Is this correct?? Please advise.

Also..........I assume that you installed these 997 wheels on a narrow body 996?

Thanks in advance!
