I removed the plastic lower front cover to do some cleaning/inspections. Its down in the front between the front tires. You can see the coolant hoses. They are numerous (really numerous now I know where the gallons of pink antifreeze I flushed in there acouple of times went. No diagram thought. Great design, lots of metal lines too. Have you tried to go the dealer and look on the screen in the parts department?

![]() As surprising as it may seem, my local dealer does not have a flow diagram, and the parts diagram is useless. As you have confirmed, its quite complicated under there. In addition to the (3) radiators with their hoses & metal lines that run from back to front and return, the heating system also makes its own run up to the front and back again. Plus there is a bypass circuit that runs over to the Coolant Expansion tank on the Rear Left corner. I am converting a 911 SC chassis to take a water cooled 996 motor. I want to make sure I have all the essential lines and eliminate any that are not needed. For the heater, I want to tap off the main coolant lines up front, like the V8 conversion guys do. It looks like I wiil have to buy a $1200 Renegade Hybrids radiator system for the car, but I want to learn as much as possible about the 996 design before I make that decision. I really want to keep it as much a P car as possible. Thanks in advance for any and all help w this. [email protected]

Well. PCar is not your NA. The side rocker area where your oil lines run, can put h2o lines there. I'll try to help but would take a week or so to give you pics. Would some pics help? SCs never die they get water cooled.
Regards,

![]() Yes, that would help a great deal. The dealer network still cannot come up with flow diagrams. Thank you. Len

Did oil change service on mine and took a look at the h2o layout as normally do while servcing it. Large diameter rubber hoses leading forward on each side. Smaller hoses about 1" dia on the L and R lower. The tunnel its metal. In the Front wheel wells 2 larger hoses one going to lower side of radiator, one to the upper side. The tunnel needs to be looked at. I have had the under body tray panels off before, and easy to do. There are lots of undercar panels I did not remove (this time did not remove any). I have to get back in there, so will take another look as I finally see wear on one of my coolant hoses up front (may be something hit it or it wore out, not sure yet), so will have to get the dealer to send me new hose(s) from Atlanta. What questions do you have? Are you sure you want to do this?

Oh I see your pic. Yours looks different. Looks like you are ready to runn the larger top hoses to the front. Get front radiators. Plan on running oil cooler lines on R side?

![]() I hope to use AN hose through the orig heating air ducts. Two east coast race shops have done this w success. Will fabricate Alum tubes up to the hose on both sides. Just bought a factory overflow tank to locate in Rear Left corner. Will make up an Alum line from there to the hose going thru the duct on the left side. Probably do something similar on the right. The unknown is up front. It looks like Porsche runs their (3) radiators in parallel, I presume so they each cool evenly. This where it gets complicated. Two main lines branch into three lines to and from the 3 radiators. The center rad has only 19mm dia inlets, both at the bottom w a bleeder vent at the top. Have pulled all the gear from both front fenders and it looks like adequate room for the rads plus their fans. Would like to use midget car or sprint car radiators there. They even have similar small dia hoses. It really would be easier to use one center rad like the V8 guys do. However, if the (3) parallel rads work I won't have to cut a big hole in the nose or shorten the gas tank. Thats a big plus. Len

How about in the rockers keep heat out of the cockpit. Better driver comfort.
I know what you mean about mulitple hoses, sort of confusing. Are the Porsche style radiators avail for reasonable? 934 type front valence seems a fit.

![]() Looking at the 934 style or the Ruf style valence, something flush w the bumper to give me the most possible room for the center radiator and its exit air. The corners will have fans. I want to use Porsche rads as a test, that way if they don't work out I can sell them off to the 996 guys. If I have the midget rads custom made, I will own them forever. Len
