Brake pads

Pelican offers the following:

Textar (stated to be OEM)
Mintex (I saw in another thread these are not so good for hard use)
Akebono
Pagid

Any experiences?

No track time, just want some good street components. I have a different car I race.

My brakes are squealing quite a bit. Would the Mintex pads help? I seem to recall that's what I used on the old air-cooled 911....

The backs wear pads quick. The Mintex will fly off. Texstars are holding up a littlle better.

Try the 'Hawk HPS'. Great for street and the occasional track day.

Textar makes good pads and supply Porsche with the Genuine stuff for these cars. Better quality than Mintex i believe.
Mintex are cheaper and seem to have less brake dust.
ANY pad can and usually will squeal if not installed on new or machined rotors. Simply putting on new pads to stop the squeal doesn't fix the source of the problem. You need to start with two flat surfaces.

Another vote for Textar. I fitted these when I replaced the brakes on my car and I'm very happy with them.

Don't forget to purchase new vibration dampers. They are self-adhesive on the back of the pads, difficult to re-use the old ones. I'm sure you can fit new pads without but I can tell you that my brakes DON'T squeal.
