Potential Stable Expansion

We've had a great experience with our 1978 SC purchase and father / son(s) restoration project. The SC restoration was such a success that son #1 decided to buy a 1980 SC on his own (not enough seat time in the '78, I guess!).

Considering replacing my 2005 BMR 330Xi with something like a 2007 Carrera C4S or C4. Am I nuts or what? The Porsche bug has bitten deep. Appreciate any input and advice.

Any special heads-up issues or things to watch out for on a vehicle of this vintage with 12,000 - 25,000 miles over and above the pre-requisite PPI?

Thanks.

Mike

Great story and pics.........get the most expensive P-car that you can afford. 996TT are going fairly cheap these days or least a C4 with the Aero package. I have 1999 C4 Aero and am finding DE's are a heck of a lot of fun.

No known problems that would keep me away from those cars right now. You're spot on with getting a PPI.

I would differ in my opinion slightly as to getting the most you can afford, I would recommend getting the best car you can afford to buy and MAINTAIN properly. There are way too many people getting into these cars that aren't ready for the maintenance cost. Brakes and tires alone are significantly more expensive than an SC.

Ha! Sounds somewhat familiar. There's no going back now.

Honestly, you can't go wrong. I was discussing the 911's with a good friend of mine who owns a 996 and we came to the conclusion that the 911 is probably the best pure sports car to own for use on a daily basis. I can't think of anything else that comes close in terms of performance, handling, durability, and useability.

I can't think of any specific problems with the car that you need to look for, but I agree that you are very wise to do a PPI.
