1999 C4 996 Cab convertible top problems
One of the two side flaps (Porsche manual's terminology, not mine) opens part way and stops. I assume a limit switch contact is not made and interrupts operation part way through the opening or closing operation. If the side flap is manually opened or closed, the convertible top successfully completes its operation. Is the 996 known for bad relays? Is it the relay(s)? Or, is it the limit switches? Or, something else? Any ideas? Thanks!

Try this thread:
RennTech.org Forums > Cabriolet top side flap It that doesn't help, search around RennTech some more. RennTech is a good site for water cooled owners to become familiar with.

To all: bad limit switch. But, many of the recommendations including hydraulic oil and especially lubricating the worm gear/motor screw gear were heard, implemented, and made a big improvement. Thanks!
