non S vs. S

I am slowly looking into a 997 purchase. Currently own a G50 carrera and a 914. The 997 will replace our DD Saab wagon.

We go camping quite a bit, even in the winter, so I am leaning toward a carrera 4. I will need the option of installing chains and frankly need the extra 10-20mm ride height of the non-S standard suspension, regardless of chain requirements.

Does anyone know the actual differences between a non-S and S suspenion (non PASM). If possible, I'd love to get an "S" with 18" wheels and convert back to standard ride height. However, if this is costly, I'll just stick to finding a regular carrera 4.

thanks

I know you can't get an 2010 carrera S without PASM. Is this true for all years?
