993 or 996
I am currently looking at a 1995 993 and a 2000 996. The 993 has 60k on it and a good history. The 996 has 26k on it and a more questionable history. I was really looking for the 993, but the lower milage and newer 996 has me wondering. The price of the 993 is several thousand lower. would appreciate any advice. My last porsche was a 1982 sc. thanks.

I can't give you a back-to-back driving impression because I haven't driven a 993 yet. But you could probably drive the 993 for a few years and sell it without losing much. They are that strong on value. The 996, not so much. And everything I've ever read about the 996 says that a questionable history is exactly what you don't want. That would settle it for me.

Might want to post your question on the 993 forum?
Either way, based on the info you have provided, I would go 993.

You have considered the cost differential in maintaining a 993 vs 996?
And if you do your own maintenance, consider that a time differential. The 993 is a much more labor intensive car to maintain. |
