Blinking Temp Gauge

While driving on track at a DE event I noticed the temp gage light blinking. The gage was above the normal range near the first mark past 180 but not in red zone. The blinking stopped after I let the car cool down. Any ideas about this?

Blinking temp light in a 2000 Boxster means low coolant & steady on means overheating, high G cornering makes liquid slosh away from sensor to cause light to come on then go out when not turning. Check owners manual to verify this is correct for your car.

Thanks BYprodriver. This kept blinking a while after I pulled off track. I checked the overflow tank and noticed it is bone dry. Hopefully not cracked but looks like a relatively easy fix if it is.
