How Well Does the 997 HVAC Function?

It's going to be 97 degrees this afternoon with a wind chill of 110-115. My Carrera 3.2 is black/black, I went out this morning early to run errands and returned with massive (and very typical) backsweat. Maybe this car is not ideal for the extremes of the midwest seasons and is more suited for the temperate west coast where it came from.

What kind of performance should a guy expect from the 997 HVAC system???

My 996's HVAC is no different in performance from my other modern cars. In other words, works great. I have a cab and drive top down w/the a/c on in 90+ heat, no issues. Crazy, huh? But it works that well.

The 996 is the first 911 series that Porsche actually got the HVAC right, I'm sure the 997 is of the same standard.

111 here in AZ today. Last summer with an SC was rough. This summer with a 996 is a pleasure. MY AC IS FREEZING COLD SET ON 75.

Aircooled cars don't really have AC.. its merely a marketing tool to make them saleable.

The WATERCOOLED cars do have a modern, working, effective AC system.

Hate to suggest it but nice bright white sheepskin seat covers.....

Black absorbs heat white reflects, mostly/moreso.

How well?

Seriously damn cold!

I recently joined the 997 club, and I have to say that air-conditioning was large factor in the decision to sell my lovely old air-cooled car.

We use the Porsche mainly for longer tours in the summer, and in recent years the summers here have just become hotter and hotter, and touring without air-con a major PITA.

It's the only upside to global warming: it gives you a powerful argument for a new Porsche.
