What to test on a 3.6 motor ?

Need to know what else to test/have tested on a 3.6 motor for my transplant. Leak down was between 2% and 5%....does that sound OK... This is a hyro lifter motor from 1995 car with 44K miles. What else should I ask for ?

Edit: Motor is being sold by perhaps the best shop in the southwest and installed by them as well.

The 3.6 didn't come out until 2002. Anyways, have them lock TDC and pull the IMS and 1-3 chain adjusters so the IMS flange can be pulled and the IMS bearing checked and replaced with the LN engineering bearing (the IMS bearing is a catastrophic failure in these engines and have been know to fail a low mileage).

I think the 3.6 was standard issue beginning in 1990 ?

Mark,
This looks like you're in the 996/997 forum. You say the motor is from 1995...an air cooled motor???
Perhaps you want to run the question in the 911, 993 or 964 forum for more traffic/responses.

If the engine is twin plugged, you want to make sure you have the 'ozone' blower line that vents air into the distributor from the fan. You also want to make sure the rubber drive belt for the (twin plug only) distributor is inspected. If it is original to 95, then you will want a rebuilt distributor as the rubber breaks down over time, even with the ozone venting.

Check out Steve@Rennsport's comments in the thread above. Good luck with the project.
