996 Clutch Change
I have a 1999 C4, 3.4 and the Clutch is on the way out. Does anyone have any experience on changing one of these. Can the Gearbox be removed (leaving the engine in place) or is it best to just remove the engine especially as the C4 has a forward facing drive as well. If this is the case are there any special things I should look out for.
I have access to a full workshop with ramp etc and do have good general experience on other cars (prepared race vehicles for some years and worked on Cosworths and Subaru's)) so I am not too worried about doing it I just need a little advice. |

You can just drop the front drive shaft and the transmission, no issues. But while you are there, I would replace the RMS, AOS and check the IMS bearing if not replace it.

Thanks for that. It was as I thought but just wanted confirmation. I was going to change the RMS and look at the IMS but what is the AOS?

AOS - air oil separator. Commonly fail often causing vacuum leaks/oil use/noise. Almost impossible to replace with transmission in. They run about $125 from Suncoast or Sunset Porsche.
