help with HVAC

Hi, bought a 2002 996 turbo a while back and it has a rather odd problem. lots of foam and backing is blowing out of the aircon vents into the car. I can only assume the various hoses have somehow disintergated perhaps through some moisture coming in or just age. Seems odd. Was just wondering if this a common problem on 996s. I guess the only way to sort it is to have the dashboard completely removed and new parts fitted (i hope they are available). Any advice or views would be greatly appreciated.
