any chance of offering the details on the swap
I do understand that the exterior dimensions are slightly different. I have been told that "it isn't possible". I have an opportunity to get a later box that is in excellent condition.
It would be very much appreciated to find out how this swap was done, especially the "problems" you encountered. thanks for responding, that itself was a treat-Mark |

Mark,
Can't comment on your source of info. Just that I have actually done this on my car. I am not sure what the differences were if any but it didn't require different parts or slow anything down. Like I stated... 1999 C2 chassis with a 2003 3.6 engine hooked up the original1999 gearbox and then later swapped for a 2003 gearbox. Existing lightweight flywheel and clutch were transferred over for new gearbox. |

The only real differences are the gear ratios as these were made for the higher torque/HP 3.6 motors. The difference is fairly minor, however.

The difference in gear ratios is so minor that it is non-existent.
![]() There are absolutely no differences in gear ratios. G96/00 and G96/01 1st gear: 3.82:1 2nd gear: 2:20:1 3rd gear: 1.52:1 4th gear: 1.22:1 5th gear: 1.02:1 6th gear: .84:1 Final: 3.44:1 |

Doh!! You're absolutely correct. I grabbed the wrong gear chart.
In fact, all early 6 speeds including Box S have the same ratios!

tail end fitment?
some have said in their rejection opinion that the physical differences at the nose of the 02 and later cause fitment problems that cannot allow u to get around?
I've seen both and cannot see such issues. basically, shouldn't it "bolt up" in a 00? |
