Has anybody replaced spark plugs on a 997.1 Type S
Folks,
I was wondering if anybody has ever replaced the spark plugs on a C4S 997.1? If yes, could you do it without dropping the engine? My car is reaching 40,000 miles and 4.5 years and it is time to change these parts. Any feedbacks, suggestions would be most welcome. Yves |

You can certainly do it without dropping the engine but the mufflers will likely need to come off.

Not on a 997, but I have on my 996 which I would think would be very similar. I managed to do it without dropping the engine or removing the exhaust. It needed a lot of patience and an interesting array of socket extensions and knuckle joints. I recall that five of the six were relatively easy, but the forward-most plug on the left side of the car was a pain.
Next time the mufflers will be coming off. Definitely don't need to drop the engine.
