04 gt3
Hi,
I was looking at an 04 GT3 and wondering what the owners here think. I have an SC and love the old girl, but I always like to look. I have not been a fan of the 996 but the turbo and GT3's I like. How are they as daily drivers, on track, etc. Any RMS issues? Thanks in advance, Bob James

I think the gt3's are great cars. This has the solid and proven Mezger motor with water cooled heads. I have heard that the vehicles do have RMS leaks when not used. I believe the RMS seal is a low drag deal which uses crankase vacuum in some way to complete the RMS seal. So buy one and drive the crap out of it
![]() Btw the 996 gt3 may not be as pretty as the 997 but they are lighter, more raw, and have a whole lot less electronic complexity. Since your coming from an SC I bet you will appreciate all of these points. |

The leaky RMS caused by installing the RMS backwards to reduce drag & add 1 horsepower is on the 997 GT3 I am not sure which years, but is not a factor in the 996 GT3. The only negatives I hear on the 996 GT3 are: stiff ride, no PSM & prone to oversteer so I would think coming from a older 911 you would not notice any drawbacks.
