Need advice after PPI

Hello All,

I came to terms with a seller re: a 2001 C2 cabrio with 26K miles, triple black. Looks sweet. We agreed on $25K pending PPI. PPI was done today and shows:

1- small RMS leak

2- small leak in oneset of spark plugs

3- needs new rear tires

4- front tires mounted inside-out

My question is what monetary concession should I ask from the seller?

Thanks in advance for any advice.

Get a repair estimate on how much it would be to fix the spark plug issue and the RMS (hopefully it is not the IMS bearing that is leaking). If these issues were not known or disclosed before the PPI than it is fair to use the cost of the repairs to negotiate the price down. It may not be dollar for dollar but the seller should give in some.

Thanks KNS. I thought there were NO signs of impending IMS fail

I could be wrong about the leak - for your sake I hope I am.

Some consider oil shavings found in an oil filter to be signs of pending IMS danger. That said, I am not sure of any statistics of IMS failure. Porsche has built thousands of these M96 motors and no one can know for sure how many actually have failed. If it makes you feel better, for $xxxx, you can have an IMS upgrade performed.

x2 on getting an idea of cost to fix mentioned items by a shop. Use that as your bargaining tool. That said, buyer doesn't have to agree to a price adjustment, just as you don't have to buy the car either, despite your being out the money expense of the PPI.
