986's do not surf, so got into a C4S cab.
mine tried 2 weeks ago, during one of our famous microbursts. surfed right into the 3" curb on the median, hit a small signpost, coolant light came on, but I drove it the 2 miles home.
Finally was in a safe place to check the damage; to simplify it was a destroyed left front corner, but I've seen cars with worse damage finish Le Mans..... one of the best exotic auto / collision repair shops in Tucson, and 20 year friends there. he didnt think it looked like much until he pulled the trunk liner and discovered that the deep front pan had wrinkles, with some of the metal folded in and over itself. Game over. but Progressive not only very generously cashed me out; but as long as I replaced the aftermarket parts w/ porsche I I was able to keep my AG Cup wheels & brand new tires, sound system w/ ipod setup, and my Fabspeed exhaust system. Unheard of, in the typical insurance world. buy Progressive!!!! had to call in some favors and bust a few knuckles at at junkyard; I believe that I saved about seven grand; had I needed to replace all this for the new one. and also; Im left with piles of 986S parts, etc. and the whole make-the-car-original exercise took a day and $600 for everything...... So now I'm in this alternate / family, and will have fun getting to know the regulars. happy and adventurous motoring! andy (Superglide)
