996 Tiptronic Breather Hose Location?

Greetings! I am new to the forum. I recently purchased a 1999 996 C2 with Tiptronic trans, and I have a question.

The previous owner installed the red intake hose and BMC filter. They air box muffler is blocked off, but not removed.

The big question I have is: Where is the breather hose for the Tiptronic? I read that it must have it's own filter installed when this mod is done. But I cannot find the hose and/or breather.

It's possible that I'm looking in the wrong place. But I want to be sure it was done right. Can someone direct me to the correct location? Where does the hose go (or where SHOULD it go)?

Without a stock vehicle to compare to, I'm a little lost.

Thanks!

If you have a US car you should NOT have the TIP breather that is located on the side of the air intake pipe, (see pic from a UK 996 tip). That set-up was intended for ROW cars.

Sometimes they mention the TIP breather in FAQ's or info sections for these parts and all they do is confuse or panic people. They mean well - as they sell these things all over the world - but they really could help people by mentioning US spec or ROW spec and including the odd photo when referring to differences in usage.

I assume your talking about the resonator bypass (the smaller pipe from air box to the larger intake pipe) opening in the top of the air filter housing? Yours should have a plastic cap installed correct? This mod doesn't do anything but change the sound or tone of the sound. Some say they 'feel' more HP in the seat of the pants. I have the Fabspeed model. It does sound less 'muffled' espy at WFO throttle settings and the throttle response 'seems' a little more 'crisper' but I doubt any claims of HP increase past maybe 1 HP!
