9 Quarts?

All:

Thanks in advance for your reply.... Just purchased a 2004 C4S. Changed the oil and replaced it w/ 9 quarts. Wow.... Its full! My question - Is it too full??

FYI, It currently shows right at the top of the required mark (after a 15 minute drive).

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Lindsey Hunt

Sound about right to me. My 996 manual states oil capacity of 9.3 quarts when replacing oil filter. When I add 9 quarts, the dash display is just below the top line. I add a wee bit more to bring it up to full. Do not want to overfill it!

9 quarts is correct. I burn one quart between oil changes. 7k miles.
You should use the dip stick for an accurate reading. The dash graph is ok but I think the dipstick reading is better.
