ABS/PSM question 2003 996 4S

I am new to the water cooled technological world and have a question about the traction control on my car. I am two days into this car and did have a PPI done which came back with flying colors.

The scenario: During light to moderate cornering, the PSM light will flash and I feel it being actuated through the steering wheel and front of car. I wouldn't even call it spirited driving. The road was fairly smooth and clear of debris. No error codes popped up when I ran a check on the car and the PSM light quickly turned off.

My suspicion went to the front tires which are Michelin Pilots M/S with a date of
(3803). Could these tires be so old and hard that they are skipping over the road causing the car to think its going into a skid?

Richard
