True or not ?
I heard Matt Farah of "The Smoking Tire" say he was told that if you pull up the e-brake 1-click on a C4 that it becomes a rear-wheel drive only car .......
Is this true ??? |

I guess it would be a neat idea to be able to convert from 4 to 2 WD if possible by the push of a button or other means. Is that possible? I have the C2 so wouldn't know. I guess I would want to know, why are 4wd deemed necessary against a C2 996 under normal dry road conditions.

If the front to rear is an open diff then if rear wheels are spinning this limits torque to front wheels to what ever the limited traction is on the rear wheels. If you apply the e brake a little (1 click) then the drag on the spinning wheels should allow more torque to the front wheels.
Basically it's like how traction control works ... Sort of gives you temporary FWD. That said you don't want to be driving around with your ebrake dragging so I don't think it's fair to say it changes the car into a C2 ... And C2s are RWD not FWD ... I'd have thought the C4's had traction control already ... But maybe not. Last edited by acadian_dad; 03-30-2013 at 11:44 AM.. |

There is no mechanical or electrical connection from the e-brake to the transmission or front differential.
