Hi Wayne,
I live in Trinidad in the Caribbean and just bought a 997 C2. The ambient temperature varies from 25 to 32 degrees C. I am about to change the water pump. Is there any good reason for me to have the thermostat at all? Surely I need to remove it completely and toss it in the bin. What are your thoughts on this matter? Regards, Zak |

modern cars need thermostat to get to operating temperature and stay there, about 190F. Without a thermostat, your engine may never get to that temperature and the engine management system will make the car run incorrectly. It will not be good in the long run.
