How do you get the light switch out??

I'm replacing several "wood" bits in my 996tt. Working on A/C vents right now. I got the passenger side installed easily. I'm stuck trying to get the driver's side A/C vent out. The light switch seems to be in there solidly. Is there a trick to getting it out? Help!

There is a tab on the underside of the switch, pull it out like you are turning on the fogs. Push it in with a small tipped tool and the” knob” will Pop off....its dead center underneath the knob...
Next.....and this you need to be careful with...
Use a long t20 and remove thetorx bit in the recess of the switch...you'll see a large thin nut around the switch center post, remove it...
This will let you remove the larger black plastic surround of the switch, there is a ribbon cable on it, so remove very carefully....

Thank you "bell"
Still working it out but looking doable now. This forum isn't as active as the 911 forum I have been on for years but I'm gaining ground discovering like minded owners and learning more daily about this latest addition to the stable.

Thanks

Thanks Bell and Frank. I got the switch out. Not too difficult once you learn these little tricks. I visit Renlist and 6speed and have learned a bunch there as well. My air cooled 75 Carrera is bone simple compared to this 996tt, to say the least. Really enjoying the car and finding new friends on Pelican and the other sites.

Drive fast take chances....
