2009 Carrera S purchasing advise

I've been looking at 2008 and new Carreras. A 2009 S caught my eye. I know very little about Porsche, but I've loved the way they look. Any advice on what to look for or avoid? What should I expect to pay? Is there one that is more desirable than the other, or is it all just personal preference?
