996 3.4 stalls at highway speed-restarts
I've had this recurring problem for 6 months, I will drive my carrera out of town approx 1-2 hrs running perfectly, when all of a sudden it will start stalling. After downshifting the car the engine turns on again and you can drive about 2-5 miles before it happens again. The engine temp is about 190 to 200. I've driven up to 50 miles under this condition. The next morning car starts right up until you drive up to 3 hrs before it starts again. Replaced crankshaft position sensor, drove 4 hrs with no problem. Then car sat for a couple of months drove in heat and again it happened. No check engine light. Car starts immediately if it completely dies. Thinking of changing fuel pump relay and fuel filter. Somebody said could be camshaft position sensor?May have to bring to dealer to get deep scan with durametric tool. Let me know if you have any ideas or experienced this condition before.
thanks, Jim |

Do yourself a favor and invest in a Durametric. Then you can take advantage of the wealth of knowledge in this and other forums before going to the dealer. By the way, I've had the same issue which showed up in humid and rainy weather. Wished I had invested in the Durametric which could have saved me a whole bunch. Turned out to be the coils. Good luck.
